Purpose of this website
This webpage provides a summary and installation instructions of software that can be used for automatic MS lesions detection in brain MRI images. The tool is specifically designed as an SPM extension.
Lesion detection plays an important role in multiple sclerosis diagnosis and follow-up. Manual segmentation of MRI images is a very time consuming task and subject to intra- and inter-rater variability. We developed a new tool for automatic lesion segmentation using T1w and FLAIR images. The approach is based on three main steps, pre-processing of the data (which is not covered by the tool), brain tissue segmentation in T1w (white matter, grey matter, and CSF), and the detection and refinement of lesions in FLAIR image. The tool has been validated using more than 100 MS real patients acquired with different scanners.
