Using a 4-ary code, 3 patterns are
used to encode 64 stripes (Horn & Kiryati)
•n-ary codes reduce the number of patterns by
increasing the number of projected intensities (grey levels/colours) à increases the basis of the code
•
•The number of patterns, the number of grey
levels or colours and the number of encoded stripes are strongly related à fixing two of these parameters the reamaining one is obtained
Using a binary code, 6 patterns
are necessary to encode 64 stripes
