SPECTS_Summary
We analyze the impact of asymmetric capacities on the performance of opposite simultaneous TCP connections. We observe on an experiment that the connection using the highest capacity has a surprisingly much lower throughput than expected. We propose a simplified fluid model to explain the dynamics of this system. We deduce its stationary behavior and the relative impact of various parameters on its performance. We conclude with many suggestions to improve the performance in the case of a moderate asymmetry.
